QSL.now

Help

These short guides get your log into QSL.now and your cards out of it. If a page does not answer your question, write to support@qsl.now and a person will answer.

Do I need to log in?

No. You do not have to log in to use QSL.now, and it is all free. Upload your log, pick a card, and send it. Without an account, your files and cards are deleted after 24 hours.

If you do log in, also free, you get three more things:

  • We remember you. Your card, rig, and design preferences are saved for next time.
  • One press does it all. You can choose to log your contacts to QRZ Logbook, LoTW, and eQSL at the same time you send your emails. Each of those needs your own account with that service, and QRZ Logbook needs a QRZ subscription.
  • A say over your club numbers. 3905 Century Club numbers print automatically for everyone, and with an account you can turn them off.

Getting started

  • NetLogger to QSL.now. The file to upload is NetLogger's ADIF export (an ADIF file is the standard log file that every logging program can export) of the contacts you logged, not a net's check-in list. Where that export is in the menus, what we read from it, and how the Sent Conf By and Rcvd Conf By columns decide between PSE QSL (please send me your card) and TNX QSL (thank you, your card already reached me).
  • Import from a live net. Making cards from a net that is on the air right now, for the stations you tick as worked and no one else. Why checking into a net is not a contact, and why a net that has already closed sends you back to the ADIF export of your logged contacts.

Sending

  • Emailed cards. What the other station receives, the link that opens their card, how they can stop receiving cards, why contest contacts are held back, and the daily sending limits.
  • Printing your cards. The four print layouts, why the four-per-sheet Letter layout needs a printer that can print to the edge of the paper, and some advice on card stock.
  • What counts for awards. LoTW and a printed card in the mail count for DXCC and WAS, an emailed card does not, and the two ways to get award credit from QSL.now.

Connections

  • QRZ and QSL.now. How we find email addresses on QRZ for you, what we keep, and how to log your contacts to your QRZ Logbook.
  • Club and net award numbers. How your 3905 Century Club numbers print on your cards automatically, and what to do about other clubs and nets.
  • Uploading to LoTW. How to save your callsign certificate from TQSL as a .p12 file with a passphrase, how we use it for one upload and then throw it away, and what LoTW means when it says "queued".
  • Adding contacts to eQSL. Your eQSL username and password let us add the contacts from each upload to your eQSL OutBox, the QTH nickname for people with more than one account, and why an eQSL confirmation is not ARRL award credit.

Honest limits

  • An emailed card is not award credit. The ARRL accepts a LoTW match or a printed card in the mail for DXCC and WAS, not a picture file. Tick the LoTW box or print the cards if you need the credit.
  • LoTW answers "queued" and nothing more. We hand your signed file to LoTW and tell you it was accepted for processing. We do not fetch the confirmations back, so you check your matches at lotw.arrl.org or let your logger pull them.
  • Logging to QRZ Logbook, LoTW, and eQSL needs an account here and your own account with each service. QRZ Logbook also needs a QRZ subscription.
  • Live net import is for a net on the air right now, and only for the stations you tick as worked. A check-in is not a contact, and a closed net's check-in list is not your log, so we do not make cards from either. For anything else, export the contacts you logged as an ADIF file and upload that at /start.
  • Cards are one-sided. Everything prints on the front. When a front has no room for the contact table, the print layouts add a back for the table, but the emailed card is always a single picture.

Not sure where to start? Export an ADIF file of your logged contacts from your logger and go to /start. Everything else on this list is optional.
